(Home, UK – Newton-in-Bowland, UK)
We’re headed for a short break in the Forest of Bowland, an area not far from home but that we haven’t explored before. And so it was that after work we loaded the car with a suitcase, hiking boots, trekking poles and many bags of food and drive the short distance (just an hour and twenty minutes) to the middle of nowhere. Ok. Perhaps not quite nowhere, but it’s fair to say it felt like it very quickly, especially as we climbed and descended Easington Fell towards Newton-in-Bowland.
After driving two miles up a narrow back road, actually named ‘Back Lane’, we arrived at The Cottage, the end unit in a barn conversion. That makes it sound small, which it absolutely isn’t. There is a small galley kitchen which leads into a dining area and then a hallway, before climbing stairs to a comfortable living room. There is a very small single bedroom off this, before you climb a few more stairs to the bathroom and huge main bedroom.

After unpacking the car, we had pizza for dinner before relaxing, ready for whatever tomorrow may bring.
