(Newton-in-Bowland, UK – Home, UK)
I woke up and listened to the sound of the wind as it wrapped itself around the end of the old barn, now cottage, giving the walls a good slap as it went past. Still windy then. Ŵe could also hear the rain dashing against the window. Still wet then.
Today’s original plan, aside from heading home, was to have a short walk and perhaps lunch at a cafe before leaving the area. However, not only was it still raining and windy, our clothes were still wet. Walking boots still wet on the inside as well as the outside. Wet socks. Andrew’s only coat, still wet inside. Not appealing.

We had to leave by 1030, but we still had time for a coffee in bed, we were on holiday after all. After a light breakfast, we tidied up, packed everything back into the car and decided to head home, where we could dry everything out and, if we want to go walking, we have a range of other, dry, clothes to put on.

A good few days, which felt much longer, and we’re surprisingly tired. Can’t even blame it on jet lag. Might be the 16.2 miles and 2,257 feet of elevation gain across the three days, I suppose.
A video of the clouds moving past one of the bedroom windows is here, for your amusement: https://vimeo.com/1228344971.
